Tottenham’s new signing Pierluigi Gollini is a rapper named ‘Gollorius’ who learned trade at Manchester United before struggling at Aston Villa July 21, 2021 – Posted in: Soccer
Sorry to bring up John Barnes and World In Motion so soon after this month’s events, but we have another rapping footballer on our hands.
It probably doesn’t help that he comes from Italy, too.
Nevertheless, Tottenham’s incoming signing – goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini – is an interesting character, both on and off the pitch.
Spurs’ new sporting director, ex-Juventus man Fabio Paratici, will know all about the 26-year-old from his time in goal for Atalanta over the last three years.
English football fans may also recognise Gollini when he arrives on loan in north London.
The Italian spent two years in Manchester United’s youth system between 2012 and 2014, then had a brief stint at Aston Villa from 2016 to 2018 – although that didn’t go so well.
Over his two years at Villa Park, Gollini made just 20 league appearances, but his time in Serie A has been far more impressive.
The goalkeeper was a key member of the Atalanta side which made it through to the Champions League quarter-finals and challenged for the title in the 2019/20 campaign.

His exploits even earned him a call-up to the Italy team – and he debuted as a substitute during a Euro 2020 qualifier.
There is every chance Gollini can rival Hugo Lloris for the no. 1 shirt at Spurs, but we don’t think Drake and Kendrick Lamar will be giving up their day jobs when they hear him rap.
Back in June 2018, under the clever pseudonym Gollorius, the goalkeeper released a single called ‘Rapper Coi Guanti’ (Rapper With Gloves).
In fairness, it’s had more than a million views on YouTube and all the proceeds went to charity.
Let’s just hope, for Tottenham’s sake, we’ll be waxing lyrical when we see him play.
