Tottenham v Newcastle live stream and team news: Spurs continue top-four push as Toon look to pull clear of drop zone April 1, 2022 – Posted in: Soccer

Tottenham host Newcastle on Sunday afternoon in another big game at both ends of the Premier League table.

Spurs are looking to keep the pressure on Arsenal as the race for the Champions League intensifies.

Antonio Conte knows that the top four is within touching distance

They play a Newcastle side that are nine points clear of the relegation zone and are looking for probably a couple more wins to seal safety.

Eddie Howe took his side on a nine-match unbeaten run that Chelsea ended on their last trip to the capital.

They then lost to Everton before the international break, but they will be looking to get back to winning ways at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

They will be encouraged by Tottenham’s inconsistency in 2022. But Spurs have started to hit some good form at home and have won their last two.

Tottenham v Newcastle: Team news

The home side are likely to be without Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp.

Sessegnon has made quicker than expected progress from his hamstring injury suffered in March and could make a return against Brighton in mid-April.

But Tanganga is out for the rest of the season, while Skipp is no closer to a return.

Ben Davies missed Wales’ friendly with the Czech Republic on Tuesday due to tightness in his quad, so he is doubtful.

The Toon will still be without Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier but both expect to be back later this month.

Martin Dubravka withdrew from Slovakia’s latest squad due to an infection, while Fabian Schar picked up a knock on international duty with Switzerland and faces a race against time to be fit.

Schar has become a key player for Howe, so losing him would be a blow to the Magpies, though captain Jamaal Lascelles will be ready to step in.

Jonjo Shelvey is fit after recovering from illness, and Allan Saint-Maximin should be fit enough to start after making a couple of appearances from the bench in recent weeks.
