The Colombian agent has become a prominent figure amongst Reds fans, who will be involved in negotiations should Salah agree new terms at Anfield.

Supporters know not to get their hopes raised from a social media post but things do appear to be looking up in terms of their star player signing a new deal.

Salah’s contract is set to expire in 2023, but he could put pen-to-paper on a four-year extension with Liverpool, ending months of speculation over his future.

Jurgen Klopp made it clear in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Benfica, that ‘there was nothing to worry about’ regarding Salah’s contract.

The Premier League goal machine has previously made it clear he wishes to remain on Merseyside for the rest of his career.

Liverpool defeated Manchester United 5-0 in October, and post-match, Salah insisted he sees his long-term future at Anfield.

“If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can’t say much about that – it’s not in my hands,” he said.

“It depends on what the club want, not on me.

“At the moment I can’t see myself ever playing against Liverpool. That would make me sad. It’s hard, I don’t want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad.

“At the moment I don’t see myself playing against Liverpool but let’s see what will happen in the future.”

Salah currently leads the top flight scoring charts with 20 goals this league campaign, six ahead of second-placed teammate Diogo Jota.

He has also scored a number of jaw-dropping goals, including back-to-back stunners against Manchester City and Watford in October, leading to calls that he is currently the world’s best player.

Following the emphatic win at Old Trafford last year, Rush revealed he had spoken to Salah over his future.

“At the end of the day, every club in the world would want Mo Salah,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I know that he would love to stay at Liverpool. There aren’t any supporters who will love Mo Salah more than Liverpool supporters, there’s no doubt about that.

“It’s a difficult situation. I know Jurgen Klopp loves him and all that, so you’ve just got to wait and see. But if you’re Mo Salah, you just carry on scoring goals. I know how the structure works with Liverpool, so I think hopefully everything is in agreement and both parties are happy.”
