Manchester United fans plan protest against the Glazers’ ‘dysfunctional’ running of the club before Saturday’s game against Norwich at Old Trafford April 11, 2022 – Posted in: Soccer

Manchester United fans are planning an anti-Glazer protest before Saturday’s game against Norwich at Old Trafford.

A supporter group called ‘The 1958’ have organised a protest march against the club’s owners that will end at the club’s ground before kick-off at the weekend.

Man United fans are set to protest against the club’s owners

They posted on social media: “This is the start of constant, relentless, peaceful and legal protests and actions against our owners.”

“Nothing will change unless the head of the snake is removed,” they add. “It’s rotten and starts from the top down like any business.

“The club’s a mess so we need to act and raise awareness again.”

This time last year Man United and the Glazers were involved in the doomed European Super League, which sparked an angry backlash from the supporters.

Chairman Joel Glazer apologised for the catastrophic events and has since tried to engage with the fanbase.

But The Telegraph journalist Jason Burt told talkSPORT that United’s current plight is down to his ‘dysfunctional’ way of running the club.

“The biggest blame at Manchester United lies with Joel Glazer,” he told talkSPORT. “The way he runs the club is dysfunctional.

“It won’t work at Manchester United until he puts people that are best in class in the positions that need to be in the positions to make decisions.

“Everything at Manchester United goes back through Joel Glazer.

“I’ve heard stories of people in power at Manchester United who have said to people in the morning, ‘I’ll get back to you in the afternoon’ because they have to wait until Florida wakes up and find out what the decision is.

“That’s not a way to run a club like Manchester United. I’m talking about small decisions, sometimes, not big decisions.

“So the club doesn’t function at any level and I think, personally, the money they’ve had, the money they’ve got, the money they spent, has masked the problems there for a number of years and it’s catching up on them now.”
