Man Utd eye Brighton star Ben White, who starred on loan at Leeds, to fix defensive woes in January transfer window December 12, 2020 – Posted in: Soccer
Brighton defender Ben White has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United with the January window opening in three weeks.
White caught the eye last season as he starred on loan at Leeds United, helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side return to the Premier League.
Leeds wanted to sign White on a permanent basis during the summer, along with Chelsea and Liverpool, but he instead penned a new contract at the Amex and has been a key player for the Seagulls this term.
And the 23-year-old’s rise to stardom has now seen him become a target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s heading into the January transfer window.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are ‘huge admirers’ of White, as they bid to sign a new centre-back in either January or next summer.
The need for a new defender is clear with Solskjaer’s side letting in far too many goals.
United haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their past six matches, and they’ve conceded a remarkable 17 goals in just ten Premier League games this term.
The report claims Dayot Upamecano, of RB Leipzig, and Raphael Varane, the Real Madrid defender, are also targets of United’s, alongside White.
Brighton do not want to lose White, especially mid-season, but they could be resigned to selling him next summer should a suitable bid be made.
