Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott continues impressive Blackburn form with brilliant nutmeg and stunning solo goal against Norwich December 12, 2020 – Posted in: Soccer
Harvey Elliott may still only be just 17 years old, but the Liverpool loanee has already underlined why he is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in this country.
Elliott became Blackburn’s youngest goalscorer in 59 years earlier this season with a strike against Coventry – which also featured a fine Barcelona-esque tiki-taka goal involving the teen.
And he has continued in similar vein since, scoring a stunning effort against Millwall in a 2-1 victory at Ewood Park earlier this month.
But Elliott’s latest strike – his third of the season – in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Championship leaders Norwich was perhaps his best yet.
The youngster picked up the ball on the right and after making a positive run towards goal he produced a sumptuous nutmeg on Grant Hanley before beating Michael McGovern in the Norwich goal.
Elliott’s latest contribution, his seventh goal contribution in 13 games for the Championship club, ultimately proved in vain as Teemu Pukki’s brace either side of the break kept Daniel Farke’s men three points clear at the summit ahead of closest challengers Bournemouth.
Liverpool fans have taken to social media in their droves urging Jurgen Klopp to recall the forward in January and you do wonder whether the German will give that serious consideration if he continues to impress in Lancashire.
