Liverpool held by impressive Fulham as Gary Neville enjoys Jamie Carragher being proven wrong by Scott Parker’s side December 14, 2020 – Posted in: Soccer
Liverpool failed to capitalise on dropped points by Chelsea and Tottenham as an impressive Fulham side held the champions to a 1-1 draw on Sunday – much to the delight of Gary Neville.
Mohamed Salah’s second-half penalty cancelled out Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s opener for the hosts, who had dominated for much of the first 45 minutes.
Jurgen Klopp could be seen screaming at his players to wake up, and they eventually did, bossing the game after half-time, but Fulham were fully deserving of the point.
And former Man United defender Neville was quick to point out that the Cottagers might be better than his Sky Sports colleague Carragher gave them credit for earlier this season.
Following the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa in September, Liverpool legend Carragher said: “Fulham are going down – I’ve never been more certain about anything in my life.
“I’m more certain of Fulham going down than Liverpool winning the league.”
And Neville shared those comments on his Twitter page during Liverpool’s draw with Fulham, along with a few eyeball emojis.
Liverpool missed the opportunity to overtake Tottenham following their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace earlier today, while Fulham stay just above the relegation zone.
Cordova-Reid’s strike in the 25th minute was a stunner, while Salah’s 79th-minute penalty was so nearly kept out by Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
