Klopp is going through one of his most difficult spells with Liverpool

The shock result, which ended Liverpool’s 68-match unbeaten league run at Anfield, resulted in one Reds supporter calling for Klopp’s head on talkSPORT.

Despite Liverpool being six points behind leaders Manchester United, Red Dwarf and Robot Wars star Charles insists Klopp deserves time to turn things around.

The Liverpool fan told Friday’s talkSPORT Breakfast: “It just made my heart race… it’s so ungrateful!

“That man has come and he’s given Liverpool, the city as well as the team, so much spirit, so much love. He’s galvanised people.

“All teams go through a sticky patch. We’ve had it great for the last three years.

“So we should have a little bit of faith in him for a little while.”

Adrian Durham and Dietmar Hamann both express doubts about whether Thiago is a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team

Klopp has guided Liverpool to a sixth European Cup and also their first ever Premier League title since arriving on Merseyside in 2015.

And right now he is having to contend with injuries to key players such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Diogo Jota.

Liverpool have struggled to score goals in 2021, going 438 minutes without finding the net in the Premier League.

“I can’t believe people are calling for Jurgen’s head already, it’s a joke,” added Charles.

“They’re talking about defensive frailties and injuries, but we’re not shipping that many goals to be fair.

“Letting in one goal against Burnley at home shouldn’t be a problem, because we should be scoring four.

Charles believe Liverpool’s problems are up front with Mohamed Salah on a five-match barren run in the Premier League

“It’s the forwards that don’t seem to be firing at all.

“But now people seemed to have worked out how to play against Liverpool a little bit. They come really mean-spirited, park the bus, 11 men behind the ball and we’re finding it difficult to break teams down.

“We’ve got Thiago [Alcantara] back now, he might be able to unlock something.

“Jota was a big loss for us because he hit the ground running, he settled in so quickly.

“There are problems there, but the problems are up front, not in the back.”
