Leicester star Vardy remains out with a knee injury

Leicester v PSV Eindhoven: Team news

Jamie Vardy remains out for Leicester.

The striker is sidelined with a knee injury, while Danny Ward, Ryan Bertrand and Wilfred Ndidi are also out with knee issues.

Brendan Rodgers said: “It is hard to put a timeline on it. He is still feeling pain within the knee. He can run and he is outside, but when he is striking the ball there is an issue so we will have to get to the bottom of that.

“I just spoke to Jamie. He had been outside, running in straight lines. It was just when he was opening up the MCL a bit when he is striking the ball that he was getting some pain in that.

“I will have to speak to the medical team to see where that is at, but it doesn’t sound as if he is too close to being back.”

Luke Thomas could play a role for the Foxes while the likes of James Justin, Timothy Castagne, Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans have returned from injury in recent weeks.

Leicester v PSV Eindhoven: What has been said?

Leicester defender Wesley Fofana: “It’s a big game and they are a great side.

“They’ve done well in the Champions League and Europa League in the past. They’re a talented side, with good players, so it will be a very difficult game, but we are a good side and will do everything we can to win the game.

“If we win the first game, we go to them with a lot more confidence, because we will have an advantage over them.

“However, both games are important, as we went into the game at Rennes 2-0 up, and the return leg was very close, so it’s important we don’t take our foot off the gas.

“It’s always better to win the first leg as it gives you that advantage.

“I’m so excited to be back. I can’t wait to be back at the stadium playing in front of our fans, as last season we had COVID so I didn’t get that opportunity.

“I’m a little nervous, but I’m also excited and can’t wait to get out there.”
