Jurgen Klopp hails ‘incredible’ Mohamed Salah following brace at West Ham February 1, 2021 – Posted in: Soccer
The genius Mohamed Salah possesses with a football was on full display as he netted a stunning brace in Liverpool’s win at West Ham.
Salah broke the deadlock in the second half with a lovely curling effort into the top left corner.
His second was even better as he brilliantly controlled a lofted pass from Xherdan Shaqiri on the counter before showing great composure to dink the ball past the onrushing Lukasz Fabianski.
These excellent goals set the Reds well on their way to a 3-1 victory which saw them rise to third in the Premier League table.
The ‘Egyptian King’ will unsurprisingly take all the headlines for his two excellent goals but there was another part of his game which impressed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp the most.
Klopp was raving about a clearance Salah made inside his own box, heading away a dangerous looking ball in the 80th minute as West Ham looked for a route back into the game.
But Klopp did of course issues praise for the two goals the 28-year-old knocked in at the London Stadium.
He said: “The way he scored them was really smart. The first one, nice. Using the deep formation, the goalie can’t really see the ball being chipped into the far corner.
“The second one was unbelievable, a great pass, great counter-attack. Great pass from Shaq but there was still a job for Mo to do and it was incredible and nice and easy.
“But a top performance. It’s always important for a striker to score but he was in a game, physically he was there.
“Defensively, my moment of the game was when he had his header in his own box! These situations are really important.”
