Jordan Henderson explains why Jack Grealish is his standout Premier League player of 2020 ahead of Liverpool teammates December 19, 2020 – Posted in: Soccer
Jordan Henderson plays alongside a number of top players at Liverpool but it’s someone elsewhere who’s stood out to him in 2020.
The Liverpool captain has selected Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish as his Premier League player of the calendar year.
He helped Villa stay in the top flight last season and his game has gone from strength to strength this term.
Grealish has six goals and six assists in twelve appearances for his club this season, including scoring twice and providing three assists in a 7-2 drubbing of the Reds in October.
He made his senior England bow in September and was widely praised for his brilliant performance against Belgium in the Nations League last month.
And when asked who’s been the best Premier League player of 2020, Henderson snubbed his Liverpool teammates to pick out Grealish.
Henderson said: “Jack Grealish has been really good so far. I think he’s improved, matured and has taken his game to another level.
“He’s one of the players that’s been a standout this season I’d say.
“Obviously I’d be biased and I’d say a lot of my teammates as well but I’d probably pick Jack so far.”
Henderson was speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash at Crystal Palace on Saturday, a match you can listen to LIVE and exclusively on talkSPORT, kick-off 12:30pm.
