‘It’s nonsense’ – Erik ten Hag’s stance on Cristiano Ronaldo saga not to be believed as Simon Jordan claims Manchester United boss ‘can’t wait to get him out the door’ July 11, 2022 – Posted in: Soccer

Cristiano Ronaldo will get his wish of a move away from Manchester United this summer, with Simon Jordan claiming Erik ten Hag’s recent comments are simply ‘towing the party line’.

Ronaldo has been the centre of attention over the last week or so after his plans emerged to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Citing ‘family reasons’, the 37-year-old is yet to return to training with United, meaning that he’s not among the players who have made the pre-season trip to Thailand.

Chelsea are interested in a move, however United are adamant the Portuguese superstar is not for sale.

That stance has been supported by Ten Hag, who revealed on Monday that Ronaldo is a part of his plans for the new season during a press conference in Thailand.

However, talkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy claims the chances are that Ronaldo will get his wish of a move, while Jordan believes the manager will want CR7 gone and is only playing the game.

“Ten Hag seems like a bright guy and he obviously believes this is the case,” Murphy told the White and Jordan show.

“But, the fact Ronaldo – or his representatives – has verbally come out and said he wants another challenge suggests to me that’s what will happen.

“I don’t think Ten Hag’s desire to have him there will override Ronaldo’s desire to leave.”

Jordan then added his verdict, saying: “I can imagine Ten Hag can’t wait to get Ronaldo out the bleedin’ door, but he’s towing the party line for the positioning of how that exit happens.

“These guys will say certain things to ensure there’s a particular perspective put on it, so they can control as much of the process as they can.

“It is nonsense that he has not gone on his tour for personal reasons. He hasn’t gone because he doesn’t want to be at Manchester United any more.

“Ten Hag won’t want it, he doesn’t need a revolution with a reluctant participant, especially one who will occupy far too many headlines he doesn’t need.

“He needs to build a football club and he needs everyone to pull together, not to deal and cater with one individual who is coming to the end of his career and may score X amount of goals, but takes away something from the ability to compete at the top of the division because of the way you have to play with Ronaldo in your team.

“Out, out, out, out, out.”
