Darren Bent will wear a Manchester United shirt on talkSPORT Drive after losing bet with co-host Andy Goldstein on defeated Arsenal September 5, 2022 – Posted in: Soccer

Arsenal weren’t the only losers from their crunch clash with Manchester United, with talkSPORT host Darren Bent also having to pay a heavy price.

The two Premier League titans met at Old Trafford in an enthralling encounter that saw United’s new recruit Antony score on his debut before a Bukayo Saka equaliser was wiped away by a Marcus Rashford brace.

The Gunners saw their perfect start to the season ended by the 3-1 defeat, and among many of their disappointed fans, one will have to live down the loss in the worst way possible.

Member of the Premier League ‘100 Club’ and Arsenal fan Bent was so confident with his side’s chances in Manchester that he placed a bet with an equally optimistic fellow talkSPORT Drive host Andy Goldstein.

Goldstein, a United fan, wagered that whichever side lost, the fan of that team would have to wear the victor’s shirt on Monday’s show.

In fact Goldstein was so confident said Man United would ‘destroy’ Arsenal before taking a dig at the Gunner’s perceived easy start to the season.

“Arsenal have not really been tested this season,” he said. “You’re at the top of the Premier League, don’t base that on anything.

“Fulham, newly promoted, Bournemouth, awful, Leicester, bottom of the Premier League, Palace, we were there, they were appalling.

Bent could only laugh at Goldstein’s confidence which was eventually proved right

“You haven’t beaten anyone where you think ‘that’s a good result’ we have. Liverpool.”

United didn’t exactly ‘destroy’ Arsenal, but it was a similar showing to the Liverpool display where a bold line-up from Erik ten Hag again paid dividends.

That will be of little consolation to Bent though, who tweeted post-match: “@talkSPORT Drive will be fun tomorrow.”

And his co-host clearly hadn’t forgotten about their bet either, posting an amusing answer to a caption contest.

Football fans who love to dabble in schadenfreude will be delighted to know Drive is broadcast live on talkSPORT’s YouTube channel, with Bent’s shirt choice there for all to see from 4pm Monday.
