Arsenal should smash transfer record to sign Jack Grealish as Aston Villa star ‘needs bigger club’, Harry Redknapp and Piers Morgan claim January 14, 2021 – Posted in: Soccer
Arsenal have been urged to ‘break the bank’ and complete a transfer for Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish in the summer.
The England international is having a superb campaign having already totted up five goals and seven assists in 15 matches this term.
He signed a new five-year deal last September worth £130,000-a-week, however, reports have suggested Manchester City remain hopeful of signing him, as do Manchester United and both can offer Champions League football.
Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and Arsenal fan Piers Morgan have admitted Grealish should seek a move elsewhere if he wants his progress his career to a higher level.
Speaking on his podcast, Redknapp said: “I think [Arsenal] have to spend.
“They are way off it, at the moment. They need to bring a bit of quality. Arsenal is a massive football club – take a Grealish. He needs to play at the bigger club.”
Morgan agreed, saying the Gunners should ‘break the bank’ for Grealish and ‘build the team around him.’
It is understood any suitor for Grealish would have to fork out at least £100million to land the playmaker after he signed his new deal earlier this term.
United legend Rio Ferdinand also urged his former club to try and sign Grealish earlier this month.
He said: “I don’t care if [Paul] Pogba goes or not, Grealish is my man.
“I have known him since he was in his early teens. He came to my restaurant and I got him and his dad some tickets for a game.”
Ferdinand added: “He’s a great kid with a great family. He loves his football.
“What the young kids don’t see with Jack Grealish is the hunger and hard work behind closed doors – the attention to detail and the way he trains.
“He has changed his regime and looked at himself and asked what he can do better.”
