Arsenal kit leaks show Gunners going back to the future in pursuit of success with Premier League winning designs April 16, 2022 – Posted in: Soccer

Arsenal’s home, away and third kits have been leaked for the 2022/23 season, all featuring clever throwbacks to the club’s illustrious history.

The Gunners’ 1994/95 inspired home number had already done the rounds on social media, and a further two shirts have since appeared also paying tribute to the team’s past.

A pink third shirt has today been leaked, the first in Arsenal’s history to use the colour, and it includes some interesting details.

Black trim marks out the badge, Adidas logos and sponsors, but it’s in the detail where the latest leak comes to life.

Until 2002, Arsenal’s logo was unrecognisable from the modern classic, featuring a cannon on a red shield with mediaeval style writing.

The patterns are known as ‘ermines’ which are often seen on historic coats of arms, and were included on the Arsenal badge from 1949 through to 2002.

A striking black and gold away shirt has also hit the web, with Adidas using the colour for the first time since they took over production of Arsenal’s kits from Puma in 2018.

Some of Arsenal’s most famous triumphs came wearing gold, with the colour featuring in their league and cup winning 2001/02 shirt and also the 2002/03 vintage which brought home two trophies.

The black number also throws back to previous decades with a geometric ‘AFC’ print giving the shirt some extra style.

The home shirt that will be worn at the Emirates had earlier been leaked, keeping link with the past using ‘chevrons’ on the white button-up collar, with the pattern regularly seen across the 80s and 90s.

Ian Wright and Tony Adams once revealed a gigantic chevroned 1994/95 kit in comic fashion, and the Gunners’ hard-at-work design team will be hoping for an even more impressive reaction.
