Alisson again! ‘Shambolic’ Liverpool crumble at Leicester as goalkeeper drops another clanger and Brendan Rodgers gets revenge February 13, 2021 – Posted in: Soccer
Liverpool collapsed to a third straight Premier League defeat as Leicester capitalised on another Alisson howler to beat the Reds 3-1.
Mohamed Salah put the champions in front with a stunning goal, but a chaotic last 20 minutes saw Liverpool’s title defence go from bad to worse – and at this rate they may struggle for top four.
James Maddison’s free-kick survived a VAR review for offside to stand, before Alisson made his third mistake in two games by clattering into debutant Ozan Kabak and leaving an open goal for Jamie Vardy.
The Brazilian made amends with an incredible double save, but was left helpless as Harvey Barnes made it three.
It’s the first time Liverpool have lost three league matches in a row since November 2014 – when Brendan Rodgers was in charge.
And Rodgers gets his revenge by becoming the first ex-Liverpool manager to beat Reds since Roy Hodgson in 2012.
Describing Alisson’s calamity for talkSPORT, former Premier League striker Dean Ashton said: “We would hear something if there was a shout.
“There are no supporters, so we should hear Alisson from here to leave it, but we didn’t hear anything.
“This is an absolute shambles of a defensive performance in this second half, Klopp is going berserk at his players.
“Great from a Leicester point of view, but from Liverpool it’s shambolic.”
While Liverpool look likely to drop out of the top four this weekend, Leicester climb up to second with a remarkable victory.
